Obituary, Ryan Barwick- It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that we mourn the unexpected passing of Gerald Ryan Barwick, a beloved husband, father, son, and friend. His untimely departure from this world has left an undeniable void in the lives of those who had the privilege to know him. As we gather to remember and honor the life of Ryan, we are reminded not only of the sorrow we feel but also of the legacy he leaves behind—a legacy defined by love, kindness, generosity, and a commitment to family.

Ryan Barwick was 43 years old when he passed away on March 31, 2025, in Eastover, South Carolina. He was born in Columbia, South Carolina, to Frank and Brenda Barwick, and from the moment he entered this world, his life was destined to touch the lives of many. His journey was not one of fame or fortune, but rather one of service, dedication, and love for his family. Ryan’s life is a testament to the goodness of God, and he was an embodiment of selflessness, always willing to offer a helping hand, a listening ear, and a compassionate heart to anyone who needed it.

Ryan was a proud graduate of Lower Richland High School, where he began forming the foundation of his character, a foundation built on strong values, integrity, and hard work. He continued his education at Central Carolina College, where he furthered his skills and knowledge, preparing himself for the career that would define much of his adult life. As an employee of Dominion Energy at the Wateree Station, Ryan took great pride in his work. He was known by his colleagues for his dedication, reliability, and his willingness to go above and beyond, never seeking recognition but always ensuring that the work was done with care and commitment.

Despite his professional achievements, Ryan’s true joy came from his role as a husband and father. He was married to the love of his life, Bridget Morris Barwick, and together they built a life filled with love and devotion. Their relationship was one of mutual respect, support, and deep affection. Ryan’s love for Bridget was unwavering, and he found in her not only a partner but a best friend. Together, they shared dreams, laughter, and the ups and downs of life. But above all, Ryan adored his son, Jacob Wade Barwick. Jacob was the light of his life, and Ryan found purpose in being a father—a role he embraced with humility, pride, and joy.

Ryan’s joy was not just found in the love of his family but also in the simple pleasures of life. He loved the outdoors, especially the peacefulness of the swamp, where he spent many hours riding four-wheelers and hunting. These moments in nature were his way of recharging, finding peace, and connecting with something greater than himself. Whether it was a quiet day in the woods or a lively family gathering, Ryan’s presence was always felt. His laughter, his warmth, and his genuine care for those around him left a lasting impression on everyone he met.

While Ryan’s time on this earth was far too short, his impact was immeasurable. He had an ability to connect with people from all walks of life. Whether it was a friend in need, a colleague seeking advice, or a family member needing support, Ryan was always there, ready to lend a helping hand or offer a word of encouragement. His generosity was not limited to material things, but rather, it was reflected in the time and energy he gave to others. Ryan truly understood the importance of community, and he cherished the relationships he built throughout his life.

Ryan is survived by his loving wife, Bridget, and his son, Jacob, who were the center of his world. He is also survived by his parents, Frank and Brenda Barwick, who loved him deeply and were proud of the man he became. Ryan’s sister, Lisa Baker, and her husband, Steven, along with his nephews, Joshua, Andrew, Dalton, and Evan, and his niece, Julia, will miss him dearly. His extended family, including his in-laws, will also remember him with love and affection, and they are grateful for the time they shared with him. Ryan’s passing leaves a gap in their lives, but his spirit will continue to live on through the memories they cherish.

In addition to his immediate family, Ryan was predeceased by his grandparents, Woodie and Lila Mae House, Iris House, and Mary B. Hill. While they are no longer with us physically, their love and influence are forever woven into the fabric of Ryan’s life. They helped shape the man he became, and their memory lives on in the way he lived his life—a life of love, service, and faith.

As we gather to celebrate Ryan’s life, we find solace in knowing that he is now at peace, free from the struggles of this world. We take comfort in the love and memories he leaves behind, and we hold onto the hope that we will be reunited with him one day. In the meantime, we are left to carry on his legacy by living lives of kindness, compassion, and service to others—just as he did.

A Celebration of Life for Ryan will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, April 5, 2025, at Grandview Church in Eastover, SC. The family will receive friends from 12:30 p.m. until 1:45 p.m. at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Grandview Church, where Ryan was an active member and where his faith was a guiding force in his life.
